Taman Ayun Temple is located in Subdistrict of Mengwi, District of Badung, Bali, Indonesia. It is something easy to reach this site, only 30 minutes from Denpasar, The Capital of Bali Province. By the historical record, The Temple of Taman Ayun was built in the 17th Centuries, more detail, it was beginning from 1632, and finished in 1634 by The King of Mengwi Kingdom, in facts, The Kingdom has another name at those time, such as Mangapura, Mangarajia, and Kawiyapura, name of The King is I Gusti Agung Putu. In the process of construction, he was assisted by an architect who is a Chinese descendant from Banyuwangi, Java Island, whose named Ing Khang Ghoew or also called as I Kaco, the partner of King of Mengwi. Basically, Taman Ayun Temple was the private temple for The Mengwi Kingdom members on their own.

So, the question is, what the difference of Taman Ayun Temple with another temple in Bali? Of course with its park, the park becomes the differentiator to another, this temple is completed with the large park or square. The Pura complex is shared into 4 different yard, which one is taller than another. The first yard was called Jaba, that we could reach by passing through the only one pool bridge and gate. While you got in, there is a small monument to guard the gate and there is the large building on the right side, where always cockfighting held. In this yard is also a firework monument which leads to 9 wind direction.

While you go to the next yard, there is a small temple complex which named Luhuring Purnama Temple. In the third area or the second yard, the position is higher than the first yard and to entry, the visitors have to pass through the second gate. And while you already inside, you’ll be joyed by seeing the building that describing The Dewata Nawa Sanga (guardian Gods of 9 wind direction). In the east, there is a small temple called Dalem Bekak Temple, while in the west corner there is a very high hall stood. The fourth area or the last yard is the highest and the holiest (by the local people’s faith). Meanwhile, the gate on the right and left side are used for coming in and out of daily activity in the temple. This yard is consist of some pole of the temple that towering high with various of size and design.

By the way, I feel that I am forgetting something, hehe. Ya, its price or entrance fee, let’s talk about it. Well, there is a difference in the entrance fee among foreign tourist and local tourists. For the foreign tourist, the entrance fee is Rp.20.000 for one people, while the local tourists are cheaper, it is Rp.10.000 for one people. However, no matter do you are the local or foreign tourists, Taman Ayun Temple Entrance Fee is still including affordable prices, so it is not the difficult thing to visit this iconic temple.
